This list compiled by journalist Heba Hasan for Flavorwire, highlights some of the most controversial public art installations that have caused outrage, offense to the extent of being removed, and even death. Some works mentioned include Richard Serra’s Tilted Arc (1989),  Lei Yikin’s Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial (2011), and Guerilla Girls’ provacative  Do women have to be naked to get into the Met. Museum? (1990).
