People are Wonder-ing: What’s Next for Artlantic?

Artists, teachers, students, and aficionados alike all congregated at the great Dante Hall Theatre on February 13th to eat, drink, and make conversation on the topics of art and the upcoming ARTLANTIC project. Hosted by Fung Collaboratives, this mixer introduced the artists and designs intended for constructing the second installment of the 5-year curatorial project, transforming vacant blocks in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The purpose of the mixer was to present what’s next for ARTLANTIC and to incite a discourse on the project, developing new ideas and incorporating multiple volunteers and organizations. Among the crowd were several students and members of the Arts faculty from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey including Jedediah Morfit, Jacob Feige, and Michael McGarvey. Other attendees included artist Robert Lach, Sara Gerdlek, Assistant Director of The Noyes Museum of Art of Richard Stockton College, and local patrons of the arts, Miss Audrey and MK Thomas of the Atlantic City Arts Commission. Atlantic City resident, Daryl Bulthius was also in attendance with his lovely family.

Feige, a painting professor at Stockton College, commented, “It’s great to hear Fung Collaboratives’ plans for subsequent phases of the ARTLANTIC project and to see Lance speak about them at Dante Hall. I’m especially glad that they will feature a mix of international-stature artists, local artists, and local history.”

Overall, the project was well received and the mixer generated a great deal of positive feedback. Many stayed behind after the presentation to discuss their interest in the project, the work that they do and the state of the arts in Atlantic City. Everyone is excited to see what’s in store for ARTLANTIC!
