Absolute Zero: A Light House of Temporality - Osmo Rauhala & Asymptote

Absolute Zero: A Light House of Temporality – Osmo Rauhala & Asymptote

The third law of thermodynamics states: ‘There is no disorder in a substance in equilibrium at the absolute zero of temperature.’

As Artists and thinkers we can visit and comment on the notion of order as it pertains to our tenuous relationship to nature outside the scientific debate. From this position, we can propose possibilities that are tangible realities tethered precariously to the human condition.

This work strove to harness the forces of nature and to manner them into a physical inhabitable environment. The ‘architecture’ and it’s resultant interiority communicated through traditions as old as story telling and ideas as advanced as engineering and mathematical theorems (determined by natural systems and orders). Existing on the edge of these phenomena, the work attempted to reveal simultaneously contemporaneous and traditional views on the eternal human-technical-natural-environmental condition that is indisputably a global state of great concern.
